Wednesday 26 November - Happy Thanksgiving
Norfolk Island is the only place in the southern hemisphere to celebrate Thanksgiving Day, a legacy from the Islander’s Pitcairn heritage and also American whaling ships who would make frequent stops to the island during the late 1800’s. The Americans brought with them American style recipes like pumpkin pie and cornbread. The day is celebrated by usually attending Church services and enjoying a traditional lunch with family and friends and that’s what is planned for the day. This morning you’ll see the church decorated with generous displays of fruit and vegetables, which will then be auctioned off afterwards with the proceeds going to charity. Then it’s off to a traditional Island lunch. Sample some traditional Norfolk wetls (island dishes), including a selection of hot and cold meats, salads, and delicious desserts including mouth-watering local pies. Enjoy a glass of champagne as you kick back and listen to the live entertainment before returning to your hotel mid-afternoon. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure and dinner tonight is own arrangements.

Thursday 27 November
Sydney guests have the full day at leisure today.  Is there a tour that takes your interest? Ask us and we can add it to your package. Check out the shops in Burnt Pine or take a walk through one of Norfolk’s fabulous National Park trails. Does the island’s history fascinate you? Why not check out one of the many museums that are laden with stories of interest from Norfolk’s past. Or grab some lunch and take a picnic to one of Norfolk’s splendid scenic locations.
