The Norfolk Island Theatre Festival has been an annual event since 1998. The competition is open to all amateur theatrical companies, or groups of amateur players, who are required to perform a one-act play or an excerpt from a full-length play.

Norfolk Amateur Theatrical Society (NATS) will be hosting their 27th annual Theatre Festival “Theatre in Paradise” from 6 July 2025. This festival is increasingly popular with visiting companies from Australia and New Zealand who compete for a number of valuable prizes.
The week will begin with a welcome function and conclude with a celebratory presentation dinner. During the week, a range of acting and theatre workshops will be presented by the visiting adjudicator.
Companies will compete for a number of valuable prizes and the coveted Trans-Tasman Trophy.
The Rules: Plays can be a one-act play or an excerpt from a longer play and must be between 20 and 45 minutes long with a minimum of two speaking parts. Plays can be drama, comedy, farce or musical. A group may enter up to two plays. Entries are judged by a visiting Adjudicator, who offers constructive feedback on each performance to actors and directors alike.
In 2025 the main prize is the Trans-Tasman Trophy and $2,000. Other prizes include trophies and monetary prizes. What better place to meet others with a passion for theatre, make new friends and enjoy the delights of our beautiful island, than at Norfolk Island “Theatre in Paradise”.
The registration fee of $100 is payable for each entry. This is non- refundable. Any group may enter up to two plays. A fee is payable for each entry. This is additional to the cost of holiday package prices and is payable direct to N.A.T.S. (Norfolk Amateur Theatrical Society).
Performances will be on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday evenings.

- Welcome Dinner on Sunday 6 July 2025 – Cost TBA
- Presentation Dinner on Friday 11 July 2025 – Cost TBA
- For those simply coming to enjoy the plays there is per person door charge per night – Cost TBA

Terms and Conditions
Prices are a guide only, subject to change and availability, and are in Australian Dollars. Prices are correct as of 14 November 2024. Please check all prices, availability, fees, conditions and information with your travel agent before booking.
Deposit: A non-refundable deposit is due upon booking: Flights + $250 per person and any other supplier deposit requirements.
Final Payment: Final payment is due: 21 March 2025. Payment can be made by personal or bank cheques or by direct deposit into our Commonwealth Bank account. If you would prefer to pay by Visa or Mastercard, please add 1.5% to the total cost of your holiday package.
Changes & Amendments: Changes can be made up to 48 hours (notification business days only) prior to departure at a change fee of $200 per person plus any applicable upgrade fees, subject to availability.
Cancellation: Airfare is subject to availability and non-refundable after issue. Accommodation cancellation penalties apply within 90 days prior to travel. Within 60 days of travel, up to 100% cancellation fees may apply.
We strongly recommend travel insurance to protect you against some unforeseen cancellations.
